Frequently asked questions
What is PNCP?
The Portal Nacional de Contratações Públicas, where federal, state and city agencies must publish their tenders, price registries and contracts under Brazil's procurement law (Lei 14.133/2021). It is public data.
Can I get only tenders that still accept bids?
Yes. Pass open_only: true for notices still taking bids, and states (for example ["SP", "RJ"]) to limit to the states you serve. Put words in quotes to match an exact phrase. Search in Portuguese, since notices are written in Portuguese.
What about contracts already signed?
Pass type: contract for contracts with the supplier and contracted value, or price_registry for price registry records (atas de registro de preço).
Why do some tenders show a value of 0?
Some agencies keep the estimate confidential until the award. estimated_value is 0 in that case, and the value appears once the tender is awarded.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Tender searches are free. You need an account for an API key, and the $5 welcome credit is there for the paid tools. The Portuguese version of this guide is at /pt/api-licitacoes.
